Lucky House Chinese Restaurant
About This Spot
Stepping into Lucky House Chinese Restaurant, you find yourself in a quietly unassuming corner of Penns Grove, where time slows just enough to savor something familiar yet comforting. The pace here washes over the space like a soft hum—simple, unhurried, a place where the everyday meets the thoughtfully prepared. Though tucked away in a part of town that might feel a touch removed from the polished main drag, the warmth inside is unmistakable, carried by the steady rhythm of kitchen activity and friendly nods behind the counter.
Lucky House feels like a well-worn favorite for those who seek the straightforward pleasures of well-made food without fuss or flair. The atmosphere, while modest, invites you to settle in—a low-key spot where locals and visitors alike pause to enjoy moments that often feel personal, even in the bustle of quick meals and takeout orders. There’s an affectionate familiarity to the space, reflective of a community touched by their flavors and the steady flow of customers who return not just for a meal, but a sense of small belonging.
The experience of dining here is underscored by thoughtful touches found in the plate—vegetables crisp with freshness, rice carrying just enough seasoning to keep the palate interested, and hints of spice that trace a line of quiet satisfaction without overwhelming. There’s a subtle balance, where no flavor overshadows the other, making it easy to savor each bite slowly or enjoy the food on the go.
Inside, the hum of conversations mingles with the soothing clatter of chopsticks, a gentle reminder that this is a place where flavors connect people. Despite the restaurant’s straightforward setting, the care invested in every dish reveals itself in the small details that might go unnoticed unless you’re paying close attention—like a dish’s perfect heat, or the comforting texture of steamed dumplings that feel just right.
What emerges here is less about spotlight and more about steady craft and kindness in the daily grind. Lucky House serves as a quiet anchor for those craving a reliable, heartfelt meal—simple pleasures marked by genuine moments rather than polished presentation. It’s in these modest, human elements that the restaurant finds its true character.

Ok this review is in 2 parts. 1st: I can only say the meal that was prepared was spot on. The General Tso Chicken and steamed dumplings were fantastic with just enough spice and heat that I can only wish other Chinese restaurants could replicate. 2nd: Because I'm only visiting the area for work and not a local, I really felt I was on the wrong side of the tracks where this restaurant was located. And I visited during the daylight hours. Will I order again..... sure. It was that tasty.

I've ordered delivery from 3 different Chinese food places in town and Lucky House is the best, by far. I love the vegetables in their fried rice. Their food is flavorful and the service is awesome and quick.

It was awesome! The best sauteed broccoli and vegetable fry rice from any Chinese restaurant in the surrounding areas.

Foods is wonderful. But the person taking orders really doesn't understand nor speak English. So you have to keep repeating yourself. But they're very nice and courteous..
